Meine Tour durch Tel Aviv führte mich heute unter anderem zum Beit Ha’ir (Hebräisch für Rathaus, siehe Foto) und dem Bialik Haus. Das Beit Ha’ir war ursprünglich als Apartment Hotel gebaut worden, wurde dann aber im Auftrag des ersten Bürgermeisters von Tel Aviv Meir Dizengoff als Rathaus genutzt. In dieser Funktion wurde es auch zwischen 1925 und 1965 verwendet. Im Gebäude befinden sich heute eine Fotoausstellung über das Leben in Tel Aviv während der ersten Jahrzehnte (Fotos aus privaten Alben die diverse Situationen wie beispielsweise am Strand oder in der Schule zeigen), die Rekonstruktion des Büros Meier Dizengoff’s, sowie eine Ausstellungsfläche für wechselnde Ausstellungen. Auf der werden gerade Werke des Künstlers Zeev Engelmayer unter dem Titel „Prom-ASS-ed Land“ gezeigt. Im Bialik Haus, welches sich in der Nähe des Bei Ha’ir befindet, lebte der hebräischen Nationaldichters Hayyim Nahman Bialik. Heute wird das Gebäude als Museum genutzt.

My todays tour through Tel Aviv took me to the Beit Ha’ir (Hebrew for town hall, see photo) and the Bialik House. The Beit Ha’ir was originally built as an apartment hotel, but on behalf of the first mayor of Tel Aviv Meir Dizengoff used as a town hall. It remained in this function between 1925 and 1965. Nowadays the house contains a photo exhibition about the life in Tel Aviv during the first decades (photos from private albums showing various situations such as at the beach or in the school), the reconstruction of the office of Meier Dizengoff, as well as an exhibition space for changing exhibitions. The space currently shows works by the artist Zeev Engelmayer under the title „Prom-ASS-ed Land“. The Bialik House, which is near the Bei Ha’ir, was the home of the Hebrew national poet Hayyim Nahman Bialik and is now used as a museum.
